Orthokeratology eliminates nearsightedness without surgery.
We offer a unique contact lens service called Orthokeratology. Orthokeratology is a corneal molding technique that eliminates nearsightedness without surgery. It is quick and comfortable, and costs a fraction of what surgery costs.
Recent improvement in rigid gas permeable contact lens production techniques has made possible the manufacture of CNC (Computer Numeric controlled) lens designs that are very precise and repeatable. CNC productions techniques have made possible what are known as “reverse geometry” lens designs that enable the lens to quickly mold the cornea into a new shape.
Orthokeratology lenses are designed to be worn overnight while you sleep. The design of the lens creates flattening in the shape of the cornea, causing the raduis of curvature to elongate and eliminating the cause of the nearsightedness.
Ortho K lenses, as they are known, transmit huge amounts of oxygen, and so are completely safe to wear with the eye closed while you sleep. You wake up, take the lenses out, and your distance vision is clear with nothing. It is often possible to wear the lenses every other night and maintain clear vision.
The advantages of Ortho K are that the changes are temporary, and accomplished safely and without surgery or discomfort, and at a much lower cost.
