Corneal Photography

Corneal surface erosion stained with sodium flourescein.
Corneal photography is a very useful tool to document conditions of the cornea such as peripheral corneal ulcers caused by improper contact lens wear. Using a slit lamp bio-microscope, digital photographs are taken under high magnification, and stored in the patient record, available for comparison and review at any time.
It is especially useful in following the course of a condition. Taking photos on one day, and comparing them to photos taken on other days, allows instant comparisons that clearly illustrate whether a condition is worsening or improving.
